German transparency register extract: we request it for your company
The German transparency register (Transparenzregister) records the beneficial owners of German companies: the individuals who ultimately own or control them. Its extract (Transparenzregisterauszug) is the official proof of who they are, with name, month and year of birth, country of residence, nationalities and the nature of their interest (§ 19 GwG). Banks, notaries and funding bodies ask for it, almost always as a self disclosure: the company requests the extract about itself. We do that for you for 49 €, official fee included, and email you the PDF.

When do you need the extract?
- Opening a bank account and bank reviews: banks must identify the beneficial owners of their customers (§ 10 GwG) and ask for the extract as evidence.
- Notary appointments: for notarised transactions, especially in real estate.
- Funding and tenders: many bodies require proof of the ownership structure.
- Your own check: to see whether your company's entry is correct before a bank points out a discrepancy.
It is a different register from the commercial register (Handelsregister). The commercial register extract shows name, seat, managing directors and who may sign; the transparency register extract shows who stands behind the company. Many banks want both. The commercial register extract is explained on German commercial register extract.
Order the transparency register extract: 49 € including the official fee
Three steps: name your company and pay, we file the request with the register, you receive the extract as a PDF by email. How long it takes depends on the register's review; the register does not set a fixed deadline, and we keep you informed.
What the extract shows, and what it does not
The extract names the beneficial owners (§ 19 GwG): the individuals holding more than 25 % of the shares or voting rights or exercising comparable control. Who counts, and what a "fictitious" beneficial owner is, is explained on Beneficial owner of a German GmbH.
For an inspection based on a legitimate interest, which includes the self disclosure, the extract contains only month and year of birth and the country of residence, not the full date of birth and not the place of residence (§ 23 (1) GwG). Banks and notaries, as obliged entities, see the full data set when they inspect the register themselves. The extract does not show representation, managing directors or company data.
Filing is a separate duty
The extract is one side, the filing the other: German companies must actively report their beneficial owners and keep the entry up to date (§ 20 GwG). Breaches are subject to fines. We also transmit the filing for a GmbH or UG, as a first filing or a change: Transparency register filing.
Frequently asked questions
What is the German transparency register?
The Transparenzregister is the German register of beneficial owners. It records which individuals ultimately stand behind a company (more than 25 % of the shares or votes or comparable control). It is run on behalf of the federal government by Bundesanzeiger Verlag GmbH and has been a tool against money laundering since 2017 (§§ 18 to 26 GwG). It is not the commercial register.
What is a Transparenzregisterauszug in English?
Transparenzregisterauszug means transparency register extract: the official PDF from the German transparency register that names the beneficial owners of a company, with nationalities and the nature and extent of their interest (§ 19 GwG). In a self disclosure it also shows month and year of birth and the country of residence.
How much does a German transparency register extract cost?
The official fee is 1.65 € per retrieved document (TrGebV, as of 10/2026); registering on transparenzregister.de is free. Through Registerpilot the extract costs 49 € including VAT and the official fee. This is separate from the annual fee of 19.80 € that every company obliged to register pays.
Can I order the transparency register extract of another company?
Only to a limited extent. The German transparency register is not a public register: members of the public get access only with a legitimate interest and to a reduced data set (§ 23 GwG). Authorities and obliged entities such as banks have full access. In practice, the usual case is the extract a company requests about itself.
Do I have to sign anything when ordering through Registerpilot?
No. When ordering, you confirm with a tick box that you are authorised to represent the company and instruct us to file the request. If the register asks for a signed letter from the company in an individual case, we contact you by email.
How fast will I receive the extract?
The register reviews every request and does not set a fixed deadline. We email you the PDF as soon as the register has approved the request and keep you informed about the status.
